Albany is a village in Whiteside County, Illinois, United States. The population was 891 at the 2010 census, down from 895 in 2000. Albany was laid out in 1837, and named after Albany, New York, the native home of a large share of the first settlers. A post office called Albany has been in operation since 1838.
